The Beaufort County Board of Elections will have an emergency meeting at 5 pm today, July 16th, 2021 at the Beaufort County Board of Elections at 1308 Highland Drive, Suite 104, Washington, NC, 27889. GS 163-294.4 allows that if in a nonpartisan municipal election, when the filing period expires, candidates have not filed for all offices to be filled, the board of elections may extend the filing period for five days. There has only been one person file for Aurora Town Commissioner and two seats are available. If approved, the extension would only be for the Aurora Commissioner Contest. All others closed today at 12 noon. No other business will be conducted.
